A weekend of nothing
What a great weekend to do nothing.
We did clean up the backyard from the storm but mostly we relaxed and did nothing which was nice after a crazy week. Just to sum up our week, I flew to NJ in a tropical storm, made two meetings, took 2 planes, 1 train, 4 cabs and one very long drive with a GPS system to a town in NJ right outside of Philidelphia. Rob was holding down the fort taking care of Cooper while I was gone, dealing with our leaking roof from the tropical storm and helping my mom with the flood in her backyard. Oh yes and Rob did take a few great phone call from my grandmother claiming chest pain so she too could have a crisis during the tropical storm (I know I sound mean but she had no real chest pain...just anxiety from the storm that I am sure her valium could handle...she has had a standing perscription since 1962 you know).
So...other than doing mostly nothing, we did hit the beach, you can see the terrible erosion in the pics as well as laid in the pool. We were so happy to see the sun, we had to soak it back in.

HGTV Inspired
Like most of you, we watch alot of HGTV. I promised Rob that one day, I would put together our own "before" and "after" of our house. We have lived here just over a year and when I look back, I can't believe how much we did!
Just to give you an idea of all the work besides what may be obvious, I want to point out what Rob tackled, all the while admitting, he never did it before...but would try.
See what you can learn from HGTV! With that dangerous knowledge, Rob:
- landscaped the front and the back (removing old trees, reviving the dead grass, replanting etc)
- resurfaced the pool deck
- painted the front driveway
- scraped the 1960's popcorn off the ceilings of all main rooms in the house and helped a guy named "Bear" put up crown molding. (don't even ask how we got "Bear"...that's another post!)
- helped demo the old kitchen and oversaw the re-model including all the personal drama of our workers! (again, worker "Bear" was involved!)
- ripped up all old flooring
- installed all new lighting (including fan removal) throughout the house, inside and out
- did all the other 1 million little things only homeowners know including, replaced: Air conditioning unit, pool pump, windows, garage doors and various other broken doors in the house.
Rob had lots of help from my mom, Pop and me (big preggo most of the time) painting and doing all the other fun work that it takes to put a house together. Just looking at those old pictures I can smell the old gross carpets and remember the terrible dirt and grime that was in this house.
And to think we also had a baby this year....we sure were busy!
