Just a quick note that Hope's service was so very nice. It was crowded! The little church (where Hope and Jake were married 13 years ago this Feb) was busting at the seams as people were standing outside and some couldn't get in.
Hope would have been so proud of Jake, Nathan and Reese for their strength and courage today. They are indeed a remarkable family!
Jake asked me to speak at the service and I was so honored to be asked. I shared some personal stories about Hope and Jake...and a got a few good jokes in there too. I guess I was successful because everyone laughed! I wanted wanted to share the final thoughts of my eulogy below:
Since Hope’s passing, I have heard from so many people whose life she had touched. People she didn’t even know. For a girl that didn’t want any attention, God would have her on a different path. Because of Hope, I hear that people appreciate their own lives more, love their families deeper, kiss and hug their spouses and kids longer and take the time stay mindful in the everyday aspects of life. Hope would have loved to be here planning dinners, helping with homework, sitting in carlines at school and arguing with her husband about spending too much money at the mall. As much as she wouldn’t want the credit or attention, I ask to you please continue to keep your life in perspective. And take a moment every now and then and think of my dear friend, Hope.
