Thanksgiving 2009

Preparing to give Thanks

Lord, so often times, as any other day

When we sit down to our meal and pray

We hurry along and make fast the blessing

Thanks, amen. Now please pass the dressing

We're slaves to the olfactory overload

We must rush our prayer before the food gets cold

But Lord, I'd like to take a few minute more

To really give thanks to what I'm thankful for

For my family, my health, a nice soft bed

My friends, my freedom, a roof over my head

I'm thankful right now to be surrounded by those

Whose lives touch me more than they'll ever possibly know

Thankful Lord, that You've blessed me beyond measure

Thankful that in my heart lives life's greatest treasure

That You, dear Jesus, reside in that place

And I'm ever so grateful for Your unending grace

So please, heavenly Father, bless this food You've provided

And bless each and every person invited

Just so you know...

My "unplugged from the internet/phone weekend" update is as follows:

I didn't read a single book

Didn't sew a single stitch ....

it's Sunday night.

So this weekend I:
Cleaned
Un-cluttered
Re-arranged furniture
Moved the furniture back
Cleaned
Ran errands/grocery shopped
cleaned the car
cleaned some more

I need my internet back so I can rest!!!


PS- I DID manage to watch alot of TV and it told me it totally has been missing me!! :)

Going Bye Bye

Happy Friday!

I have decided I am going bye bye...sort of.

I am taking a 3 day vacation from being "plugged in". After work today, no more blackberry, no more blogs/facebook/internet, no more phones. I need a break...so....it's just going to be me, the sewing machine, my books and of course Cooper and his stuffed friends. (and because I don't watch TV much anymore I will be treating myself to my shows I need to catch up on a night...I am not THAT crazy to go unplugged without TV!)

Sail-a-bration

Tonight we joined a few hundred of our space coast neighbors to watch the Carnival Dream on her inaugural sail out of Port Canaveral. The night was clear and crisp....a great night of fresh air and fun.

Wonders never cease....

It was a picture perfect day today here in the Sunshine State. High of 76 degrees and lots o' sunshine. Not to enjoy the day outside would have been a sin so Mom and I were shocked when Grandma agreed to come out with us to the zoo...wonders never cease!

Cooper loved the "vet in training" area. He worked in the food prep area for a long time while other kids buzzed around him taking stuffed animals' blood pressures and administering band aids to injured stuffed sea turtles and other plush animals.

He got his face painted like a cat and of course we visited the petting zoo.

Grandma slept in the car there and back but seemed to perk up every now and then and even said she really enjoyed the day....I am sure all the sunshine and stimulation tired her out. Even I napped this afternoon when I got home. It ended up to be a great family Sunday :)

Holiday Baking Party

Last night Rochelle brought her kids Samantha and Nolan over with Nathan and Reese. After dinner we had a holiday baking party and made sausage/pepperoni bread for Thanksgiving. I am sure all the bread will be eaten before Thanksgiving in 2 weeks but we'll have to be sure to make more next month before Christmas.

The kids had a ball playing together! It was so fun to have the house full of the noises of kids playing and the smell of fresh bread baking. The weather has turned cold so even felt like the holiday season is upon us!

It is bittersweet to remember back a year ago this month to when Hope was told she was terminal. Rochelle and I were sure she was laughing down on us as we tried to control her kids and ours....especially in the bath tub!

A good time was had by all and now I am looking forward to a restful weekend :) Eating all my bread!
