Life's a Beach
What a beautiful day! This morning we took a long walk on the beach. It was so beautiful out, you wanted to stay on the sand all day. Cooper was covered in sunscreen and dressed in long pants/socks/long sleeve shirt and hat just in case the too hot sun struck his little baby skin. Poor little guy was sweating by the time we were done and I stripped him down and just covered the stroller with a blanket. We took a great long walk and enjoyed the whole day outside. While Cooper (and Rob) napped, Mom and I went to the veggie market and did some shopping. We finished off the night with giving Cooper a nice long warm bath in the real tub and Rob let him splash and float in the tub while Rob held him...he loved every minute of it and is sleeping ...well...like a baby now.I am off to eat a late dinner and watch some movies we picked up at Blockbuster :) |

Passports
The lady that was in charge was a very old lady and greeted us with "Your late" (you have to make an appointment here and I could tell this wasn't going to be fun). By the way, we were not late, it was like 12:46pm for our 12:45pm appointment. We get back to her "office" and she says "I don't do babies". Now you know me, I am thinking in my head, "Well lady, you do now." This very simple processes takes 1/2 hour to 45 minutes (now I know why she needs appointments) and as I fill out the required paperwork she going on and on about how hard is it to take baby pictures.
She has an old standing Poleriod that won't zoom or move much (and I am thinking in my head the whole time I just read that Poleriod is going out of business). Much complaining and few photos later she gets the picture she needs, close up with the white background. Meanwhile, what is Cooper doing?
Laughing, staring at her and "talking" the whole time!
She missed so many cute pictures as Rob and tried to hold him at the right distance from the camera. Rob even put Cooper on his shoulders only to have her scold him "Now I get your head in the shot!".
You could tell our family threw her for a loop and she must have needed a coffee break after photographing the baby. "This is why I don't do babies" she said.
I don't care, we got our passports and I got to keep this "unusable one" (as she said with an eye role) and Cooper proved is always a good sport and could care less!

Who loves ya baby?
"Who loves ya baby?" was my dad's favorite greeting. Not "hello, how are you?" but a loud, arms outstretched, "Who loves ya baby?" before he gave you a big hug...stranger or not. Everyone has been emailing me after the pictures of Grant have been out, that Grant looks so much like my dad. I thought it was just our family thinking that...but more and more I am hearing others echoing that sentiment. So.....here's the side by side. It took me a while to do this as it's been hard to see pictures of my dad with the babies. In the past 6 months, we gained 2 family members and lost one, so warping time with computer images has weirded me out a bit. But...what do you think? The chin, the eye color (although hard to see from this pic of my dad) , the skin coloring, the baldness, the "Spock" ear????? Not sure.... but the resemblance sure is there. |

Fat Tuesday/Super Tuesday/Super Grant
I found this old picture of me in New Orleans at Mardi Gras World were I ran an event for the association I worked for at the time. Fun times....happy Fat Tuesday! It's really Lent already starting tomorrow??? Guess it's a good time for this Catholic to give up junk food! Today is Super Tuesday and I haven't really gotten into the political race this year but I am eager to see the outcome of today. I am proud to live in a time when a woman and a black man are running for the highest position of power in our country (regardless of political affiliation). I hope Cooper grows up in a world that sees no color or gender discrimination. We have come along way. My brother in law sent new picture of Grant last night. I know some of his super fans that read this blog would like to see him...enjoy! |
